Scone & District Community Council
Scone and District Community Council (SDCC) is a voluntary organisation set up by statute by the local authority under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and run by local residents to act on behalf of its area. As the most local tier of elected representation, SDCC plays an important role in local democracy.
SDCC is comprised of people who care about their community and want to make it a better place to live.
As well as representing the community to the local authority, SDCC facilitate a wide range of activities which promote the well-being of their communities. We bring local people together to help make things happen, and protect and promote the identity of their community. We advise, petition, influence and advocate numerous causes and cases of concern on behalf of local residents.
SDCC consults with and make representations on behalf of its community on local issues it believes will directly affect the community. The local authority and/or other public bodies must consider the views put forward by SDCC but are under no obligation to adopt or implement them.
