We have received the following message from Perth & Kinross council with regards to the new puffin pedestrian crossing on Stormont Road:

“I am writing to you to give you an update on the proposed puffin crossing on Stormont Road, Scone.

BT and SSE have programmed their utility diversion works for during the October School Holidays, starting on 11th October for a period of 2 weeks. This is vital to the project as the current BT cabinet on Stormont Road is unsuitable and needed to be moved in order to allow the pedestrian crossing and new footway to be installed.

The installation of the pedestrian crossing will begin on 1st November for a period of 3 weeks.  Unfortunately these works will take place during the school term however we will ensure the site is safe and no works are taking place when children are travelling to and from school.  We would expect the pedestrian crossing to be switched on by 19th November.

We are still working on the design for the new footway links that will be installed along with the crossing however these should be progressed in the coming weeks and will be circulated for your comments.

Please note that the postbox at the junction of Stormont Road and Abbey Road will be out of order for the full duration of the works (10 Oct – 19 Nov) and will be installed in a new position on the completion of the works.”
