Welcome to Scone & District Community Council
Welcome, to our beautiful village of Scone in Perthshire, Scotland, which lies near to the River Tay just north of the city of Perth and is the gateway to the Scottish Highlands. Scone was built in 1805 as a planned village and originally called New Scone until 1997 but is now officially called Scone. It is 1¼ miles (2 km) east of the old location and 1 mile (1½ km) further from Perth. The village has over 4,000 inhabitants and is demographically old even compared with the rest of Scotland. The village has a diverse range of local businesses, places to eat, places to stay, visitor attractions and many active and dynamic community organisations. We are a vibrant friendly community ready to welcome our visitors who along with our residents are encouraged to enjoy all we have to offer.
