Vanessa Shand: Chairperson
I moved to Scone from England over 20 years ago just before my husband retired from the British Army. I have worked in the NHS all of my adult life, apart from 6 years when we lived in Germany and I worked for the MoD.
I like caravaning in the UK, no matter what the weather and going abroad for the sun!
Hazel Mackinnon: Secretary
I have recently retired from 42 years teaching, have lived in Scone for 37 years while bringing up my family of two boys and am now a grandmother. My outdoor hobbies are golfing, hillwalking and caravanning in the summer with fair weather skiing, reading and craftwork during the long winter evenings.
I hope that by joining the Community Council I can help provide a better social environment for everyone
David Dykes: Vice-Chairperson and Treasurer
I am a retired telecommunications worker. I worked overseas for 28 years and for 12 years in the UK.I have now lived in Scone for the past 5 years, however, I have been associated with it since 1969.
I am married with 3 children and 1 grandson. I enjoy badminton, WRVS, vegetable gardening, travel and holidaying.
Donald McKerracher: Planning Convener
I am a retired Civil Engineer and have been resident in the Scone area since 1975. I have spent the last 25 years living in Stormontfield. I was chairman of our local Proprietor’s Association for over 20 years and I also carry out voluntary work for two charities.
I am married with two sons and four grandsons.
Bill Paterson: Deputy Planning Convener & Data Protection Officer
Most of my working life was as a Royal Mail Processing Manager over a 30 year period in Perth & Edinburgh although I spent the last few years working as a Security Manager at the Scottish Office and Scottish Parliament.
I am married with a daughter and have lived in Scone for 29 years. Among my interests are computing & software development and I enjoy walking, travel and reading.
I hope to encourage significant members of our community to attend our monthly meetings to support our efforts in representing their interests
Martin Rhodes (Co-opted member)
I am now retired. I was a Team Leader for Diageo – mainly with John Dewar and Sons, Inveralmond and then at Leven, Fife.
I have lived in Scone for 42 years and served on the Community Council for several years, latterly as Chair until 2009.
Jill Belch (Co-opted member)
I have lived in the area since 1987 and very much value the community I live in, having moved here from the centre of Glasgow. I have been grateful for the education provided to my 4 children by the Robert Douglas Memorial School, and for the other lifestyle benefits from living in Scone.
I work each day in Ninewells Hospital as I am associated with 3 medical charities however I would now like to try to put something back into the community which has supported my family and I for so many years, thus my to join the Community Council.
Gordon Clark (Co-opted member)
I was baptised in the West Church (now Abbey Park) on Abbey Road and brought up in Goshen; attending RDMS and Perth Academy. I spent 30 years overseas; mainly in the MENA Region and, now, work as a Chartered Arbitrator and Mediator in International and Domestic Commercial disputes from home.
I am married with 2, Scone-based, adult children. My 92-year-old mother, who was born in Mansfield Road, now resides in the RDM Home. I enjoy walking, reading and serving my local community.
